Byron and Matt,
Here it is, open for business members may elect to get messages in one of 3 manners-- 1) individual messages 2) a daily digest of up to 25 messages (if there are more than 25 messages in one day there will be 2 digests delivered 3) No messages delivered, must go to group page to pick up messages. I can come up with some guidelines for good behavior on line, like no flaming, etc. David |

Welcome
cits4fun <djrussel@...>
Matt,
Welcome to the putative, or is it tentative, Arcane mail list. If we get a few more people on the list it should be a useful tool. See you on Sunday, David ps do you know any good immigration lawyers? in your area or Concord would be best. The 21 year old daughter of a Friend of Luba's is in Concord. She is from Israel and is living with/caring for her grandparents while she goes to school. her application for a student visa was denied, unlike Atta's and the other hijacker. We want to help her for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that we sponsored her visit. Thanks. |

System down
David Russel <djrussel@...>
To ALL Arcane list members,
the following is a FYI. it should not affect us much if we are giving people the information about this list on Sunday. Also, the traffic is so low compared to other lists -- i've seen 100 messages in one day on one list which made me VERY glad I'd taken it in the digest form and actually only got 4 Digests each with 25 messages. See you on Sunday ps, ran into an Isetta owner in SJ named Tom Lighthouse and am trying to get him to attend, although he isn't about to drive the little one to SF. Dear Yahoo! Groups Members, The Yahoo! Groups service will be down for scheduled maintenance Friday, March 15, 9:00 PM PST (GMT-8) as we move our servers to a new facility. We expect the service to be restored the morning of Sunday March 17. During this time the web site will be unavailable and email will not be delivered. (Some users may experience email non-delivery notices while the service is down, but all email should be delivered once service is resumed.) Please note: once the service is restored, there will be email delays due to backlog. We expect these delays to last no longer than 1 day. Please do not re-send email to your group as this will only add to delays. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. The Yahoo! Groups Team |

Hi guys,
i just posted some pix from the business meeting in the photo section: http://photos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Arcane_autos/lst You can all add business meeting pix of your own to this album. it turns out that I took very few pix with the digital camera (it is very low res.) and the few that were shot on film are still in the camera. Please feel free to encourage others to join the email list. Hopefully Sina will add a link for this in the Arcane page. As a Netscape user, some of the pages are fairly foobahed for me, so I don't know if she has already done it. In the meantime you might enjoy the following links http://www.sparklet.com/~royce/trams/KnowJackSchitt.swf http://www.asciimation.co.nz/beer/ David |

I'm afraid that I didn't do good as far as picture taking. spent a little more time with the video camera, but have no way to get video into the computer. I wasn't planning on developing the film now, but will look into it. I don't think that I took more than 2 or 4 shots on film, and they could be similar to the digital ones, but i'll post anything there is. Don't know why i didn't take more digital shots as they are 1) FREE and 2) fairly immediate [my cheapo camera came with the computer and doesn't have a built in screen, so until it is connected with the computer I have no idea how good or bad the pix may be. it doesn't take good pics and has trouble in low light, inside lighting, close ups, and more. ANYBODY who took pics can add them to the album, but first they must join the list. You can browbeat anyone you recall wielding a camera. Was Sina's friend Drew taking any "snaps" as well as the "real" pics? have a good weekend David On Fri, 22 Mar 2002 10:05:37 -0800 Byron Brill <B_Brill@...> wrote:

I'll check. Unfortunately, I haven't heard back from anyone else who may have taken pictures, so we may not have a lot to choose from, but we'll see. I had a camera with me, but never drew and shot. Seems like I arrived at the garage, then looked up and it was over. For me, that meeting went by faster than any other... Byron ----- Original Message -----

Arcane Event possibility
David Russel <djrussel@...>
Hey guys,
Someone just asked me about a regular get together somewhere in the Fremont area and it faintly rings a bell, but perhaps you know more about it. Apparently, on some regular schedule, people take their rides to a 50's style diner in the Fremont area and mingle, compare cars, etc., a real American Graffiti thing (I never did see this movie). Maybe we could get some Arcaner's together for one of these evenings. I realize that Night Time events may not work for many of our cars, but what the heck, for those that can and do make it, there should be plenty of fun. Any thoughts? David ps. we could use some more list members to make this thing worthwhile. |

While evening events can sometimes be a little dicey, what with three teenagers & all, my family would sure be game for this sort of thing if it happens on an evening that works for us - I'm all for it. If anyone knows more, please post the info! Byron ----- Original Message -----

This site had some information, but so far nothing as close as Fremont. maybe I have the city wrong. http://www.rocknrod.com/rnrgraf1.htm Will need to explore some Hot rod connections and see if we can turn up something close enough for more members to be willing to risk a night time foray. I'll check with my pal and former Arcaner, Tom Dejohn, to see what he can tell us about local cruise ins. Tom just moved to Colorado, but I think used to attend some of these in the San Jose area with his '32 Ford rod. Tom, do you know of any regular cruise ins in the Peninsula/South Bay/lower East Bay regions (see previous correspondence on the subject below)? BTW David, I'll put more info about the Arcane Yahoo Group in the next newsletter. Tom, if you would like to join the group, the home page for the list is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Arcane_autos/ and with some luck you will get a message from Yahoo inviting you to join. If not try to go to this page and it should walk you through the sign up procedure. Best, Byron ----- Original Message -----

Byron,
VERY Cool and promising. thanks for tracking it down. San Carlos would be pretty central for our membership. here is where this mail list could really shine. One person lets the list know of their plans to go to one of these places on and individual basis, and others have the opportunity to show up. No prior planning needed. As most of the people here are likely to be hot rodders it would probably be nice to try to get at least one Traction Avant there whenever possible due to its '34 styling and similarity to many hot rods. Clark Rogers (San Jose) and Peter Windhorst (Palo Alto) are 2 other local TA owners, although they aren't Arcane members. How goes the T-shirt design search? David |

Nothing on T-shirts yet, but expect to see something next week. W/regard to cruise ins, I'll put out a message to everyone next week, both my e-mail list & the Yahoo group. Will also remind everyone on the e-mail list to join the yahoo group. I'm on my way out the door, so I'll talk to you next week. Perhaps you could pass it along to Clark & Peter...
