Annual meeting

Geoff Dunn

It's time for our annual meeting. The club by-laws suggest it be held on the last Sunday in September, but El Presidente can change the date with good reason.

1. How does September 25th work for club members as a meeting date? Suggest an alternate date if that doesn't work and you plan to attend.
2. We have three officers - Prez, VP, and Treasurer. All three of us are term-limited this year and new people need to be elected. The current officers can be elected to other positions, but others are welcome to run for office. You can nominate yourself or be nominated by someone else. Send nominations to the group or privately to me, as you wish.
3. We've held the last two meetings on-line. Shall we do that again or do we want to meet in-person?
3.a. If the meeting is in-person, where should we meet? The East Greenbush Library is convenient for Doug, Fred, and me, but less so for others.
4. Dues were not collected this year. We also didn't get as much revenue from shows as some years. Annual costs for the club are around $300. I'm inclined to collect dues again this year. Think about it before the meeting.
5. I have some suggested updates to the by-laws. They're minor, like removing references to Yahoo, and to clarify a couple of things. These will be proposed in a separate note, for a vote at the meeting.
6. We have train shows coming up.
Poughkeepsie is early this year - October 30 - let Mark know if you're attending
The PCC show is November 19th - let me know if you want to bring T-Trak modules
GTE is December 4th - Doug ran this last year and I volunteer him to run it again!
Mike, Forest - will there be a UMR show this fall?
See the website if you forget the dates - www.albanyntrak.org.

Hi all,
I’m available September 25, and I’m willing to meet in person. The East Greenbush library works for me. I have a Zoom account, so I can host a virtual meeting if that is what is desired by the group.

The Upstate Model Railroaders have Cancelled any future train shows due to lack of vendors. We instead hold monthly open houses on the last Sunday of the month from 12-3. They are quite successful. We set up tables in the hall with material to sell. Much less work than a train show.

I’m good for that date and meeting in person.

That's too bad for us, Mike. It was a good show for us to attend. Most of our shows are far more limited in the space available.

I'm good for the 25 and in person is ok by me.
I've applied for sales tables at Kingston (10/23) and Poughkeepsie (10/30).  Mark, if I get the table, I can bring the 2-foot corners with me if you need them.  I will be available for the PCC and GTE shows.

I know. But when we reached out to the vendors we knew most declined.
As you know, it’s very hard to run a show. What we are doing now is easiest. I invite anyone from the group to bring trains to run on the clubs N scale layout on our open house days. Just let me know you are coming. The layout has been upgraded to Kato track and runs well. It is DCC with Digitrax throttles. You are welcome. I would love to have the annual meeting at the club.

Votes are in, sort of. Eight of our 14 or so members responded. The 25th was acceptable to everyone. The East Greenbush Library was a preference for half the responders.

But, the East Greenbush Library is not allowing use of their meeting rooms. A location in South Glens Falls was offered, but the drive would be almost two hours each way for three or more of our members. So, unless someone knows of a place where we can meet safely in the Albany area, we will have another virtual meeting. 3:00 on Sunday, September 25th, hosted by Mark on his Zoom account.

We will be voting for officers, and I will propose some by-law changes in a day or two. Are there any other agenda items? We need nominations for officers.
