Hello, fellow residents of the Great White North. Spring is coming, and with it the PCC train show, on Saturday, March 9th. We'll do another T-Trak layout, with four tables.
Please let me know over the next week or so if you're interested in bringing modules.
Thanks. Geoff

Forest and I could bring corners and the yard. We repaired his 2 foot snow scene and the yard switch tracks.

Thank you Rod for your work on the polarity issue. There was a significant polarity issue with the TTRAK layout at Springfield, over one third of the layout was inoperable. The TTRAK standard for wiring is blue white white blue. Some older TTRAK clubs used blue white blue white. Geoff I also suggest hooking up the red line normally to the DCC and reversing the yellow line. this way all crossovers will work without a short.

I talked to Carl Graves last night and let him know that the club is not interested in the equipment. He is still trying to sell it so if anyone is interested, contact him directly. His information is in the message trail on the Yahoo Groups site. Carl was somewhat active with us a few years ago and some of you probably remember him. He has had some health issues lately, but he is still working on a layout and may see us at future shows. Geoff

Re: Backup DCC system

Like John, I’m ambivalent about the offer. As Mike has pointed out, we could get a brand new system for only $127 more. As much as I’d like to help out a former member, I vote for spending the extra money for a new system.

I am ambivalent, it is a decent price for something that has been gently used but as Mike said it is an older system. I'm sure there are still plenty of these systems up and running layouts currently and it is for back up....

Brian the outside line is the red line. The inside line is the yellow line.

Kato has blue and white wires. The TTrak standard for wiring is from the front of the module. Red line first rail = blue wire. Red line inside rail= white wire. Yellow line outside rail= white wire Yellow line inside rail = blue wire. Two leads come out the back of the module. We tape some red tape for the red line and yellow tape for the inside yellow line. Now I’m assuming you want to run DC on the inside line. So I would not touch that wiring. I would attach the blue and white wires to the outside red line for connection to DCC. Hope that helps. And speaking of DCC, I need to add the connections to a couple of my T-trak modules. After studying the setup at the GTE, I purchased some Unitrak terminals and extension cords. Before I start, I need to know which color wire to connect to each rail. I also heard references to "red" and "yellow" lines, so I need to know which is which. Thanks, Brian Hilgenberg

Backup DCC system
Geoff Dunn
We have talked in the past about purchasing a backup DCC system. One of our former members, Carl Graves, has some lightly used equipment he'd like to sell. This includes two DB-150 units, a throttle, and a radio transmitter. The transmitter may be a UR-91. I didn't ask what the throttle was but Carl says it came with one of the DB-150s, so it's probably one of the DT-400? models. The asking price is around $400. I'm no Digitrax expert. What do members think about a purchase like this? Geoff

Mark,
I’ll put you down as a “maybe” for now. Once I know that we have enough interest to commit to exhibiting, I’ll send out a second call for modules. The address for the Riverfront Center is as follows: 1250 Riverfront Ctr, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Here’s a link to a map showing where it is in Amsterdam: https://www.mapquest.com/us/new-york/riverfront-center-357392614

[Attachment(s) from Rod Mason included below] I just received in last week’s mail the attached letter from the ALCO Historical & Technical Society (AHTS) announcing this year’s Rails Along the Mohawk train show to be held on Sunday, April 7, 2019 from 10 am until 3 pm at the Riverfront Center in Amsterdam. Included with the letter was an Exhibitor Registration Form (attached) with a deadline for return of March 13, 2019. In this regard, Geoff has asked me to canvass the members to see who is interested in participating in this year’s show? Per the attached diagram from last year’s show, we only had 5 members participate (if we include Geoff’s contribution of 2 junction modules) for a total of 24 modules arranged on three (3) 8’ tables. Of the 24 modules, Dave Sefcik brought 7 of the modules and 2 of the tables. With Dave gone, if we have a response this year similar to last year’s, we’ll barely have enough modules to occupy a 3rd table. Please let me know by March 6th if you are interested in participating in this year’s show and, if so, what modules you will be bringing and also if you can bring any tables (the organizers provide each exhibitor with one free 8’ table + Geoff let us have the table provided to his Free-mo group last year. Additional tables are available from the organizers @ $12/table.). Thanks.

Please send letters and spread the word
Alan Kardon
Hi everyone, I have posted this on Facebook. I have sent letters to the Governor, Mayor Sheehan, Albany, Mayor Madden, Troy. Did I miss anyone else to send? If they receive enough voice, mail and email concerns about this they may do something about remedying this situation. Dear (various), RE: RPI Train Exhibit Please do something to preserve this Historical Masterpiece, This presentation is a historical monument to the Capital Region, State and Country. It is being forced to move without any place set to rebuild. Another part of our history is possibly being lost forever. Has any group contacted the Governor, Local Mayors, National Model Railroad Association? With all the VACANT properties owned by Government we should be able to find a permanent home for this magnificent structure. Hope you will be able do something positive about this terrible situation. Thank you for your time, Alan Kardon Alan
