Parking for GTE
nuddffoeg <nuddffoeg@...>
If you want to use the approved parking for setup Saturday and Sunday,
please fill out the form that I'm about to upload, and fax it to the number on the form. If you want to park in a different parking area, like many people did last year, you'll probably be able to do that again this year (but no promises...). Geoff

Module Census
john valachovic
Hi guys,
I'm trying to get an idea of everybodys modules sizes and what tracks everybody has, so I can get everything into CAD to design the layouts. Please provide the following info: length of module width of module part of a set optional branch? orange line? mountain division? Please at this point, limit your replies to modules you regularly use in shows. As I progress I will add other modules you have. Having an accurate census will help plan out the optimum design to utilize op blue, orange and mountain divisions. Thanks guys, see you at GTE!

Upcoming GTE show
nuddffoeg <nuddffoeg@...>
Hi all.
Three of us set up at Hobbytown on Saturday, and had a good time until Doug's boss called him in to work. Six of us set up at the PCC on Sunday, and also had a good time. Pictures will be on the web "soon". Now it's on to the GTE, in just under two weeks. I have the following who have expressed interest, with their module sizes. Brian H (8'), Mark (8'), Matt and Marv (10'), Brian E (4'), Bob G (4' or 8'), Mike (20' yard?), John (7'or whatever it is), Doug (8'), and myself, filling whatever is needed. Let me know if what's listed is not accurate, or if I left someone out. Before I start a layout diagram, there are a few questions. (1). The two new club corners have some junction capability. If we used one of them as an inside corner, could we put the yard inside the layout? This would suck up a lot of space inside the layout, so we may not want to do it, but some people asked if it was an option. (2). Do we want Mike to bring the full 20' yard? Last year's layout was 18' X 29' without it. We can go just a little bit longer, but not much. (3). Bob Gatland has volunteered to bring DCC equipment. He and I ran DCC for several hours at the PCC show. Are other people interested in DCC for the GTE? Lastly, we have Saturday afternoon (12:00 to 4:00) available for setup (although the HO guys are often set up before noon). I'd like to get as much of the layout set up as possible. I know Mark can't get his modules there on Saturday. Is there anyone else who can't get there until Sunday? Also, I'd like to use Saturday as a work session, where we can touch up the 4' club corners, and finish the new 3' club corners. If anyone wants to work on other projects, whether it's something for the group or help with an individual project, toss out suggestions. If we get most of the layout there, I can bring end loops and we can run trains too. So, there are lots of questions. Please answer before Tuesday, November 27th so I can figure it out by Saturday. I'd prefer responses to the Geoffdun_at_Capital.Net email address (so I have everything in one spot). Good luck to Fred with his hip replacement surgery, and to Wally and his wife. Thanks. Geoff.

Re: Show Schedule for Fall, 2007
Robert Gatland <rgatland@...>
Hello Geoff and PCC Show Coordinator
I'm good to go (wife said OK) for the November 18 show in the Albany Polish Center. What time should I be there for setup? Do you want my 8' bridge scene module? (3 main tracks, no orange line in front, club's 1' modules with turnouts needed to make orange line operational on rest of layout) Do you want the 4' access lift bridge? (works best when attached to sturdy modules on both ends) Bob Gatland

Re: Fall Stuff
john valachovic
Hey guys,
Both days at Hobbytown are no joy for me, I'm working two weekends straight for the auction house. Count me in for the EGG at this point. For the work sessions to work on the corners, I agree we need one, but when seems to be the problem. I'm working on a potential set up location, the Altamont library bought the old D&H station in Altamont for the new home of the library. It is currently empty, the library is conducting a fund drive to raise money to rehab it. I am trying to get in contact with the library about putting together a NTRAK layout in the building to have a open house weekend to help them raise funds and to get us some exposure. I'll keep you posted

New Member from Hyde Park Station - HVRRS
nycrr8
Hi John or whoever can add a member.
Could you please invite David Toll into our Yahoo and N-Trak group? His email is tolld@optonline.net David is a relatively new member of the Hudson Valley Railroad Society (HVRRS), which sponsors the upcoming Poughkeepsie Train Show (Sunday, Novemeber 11) and maintains the Hyde Park, NY Railraod Station. He lives in the "Southern Division" of our group. David is interested in building for the HVRRS a set of N-Trak modules of the Hyde Park Station as it would have appeared at the time of FDR's Funeral Train (April 15, 1945). The modules would be on permanent display in the baggage room of the Hyde Park Station (next to the late Mike Rourke's NY&OW Kingston Branch N Scale layout, which was featured in Model Railroader's 2000 Great Model Railroads). The modules would also participate in N-Trak shows. Current plans are for a total of 8 feet split into a 5 footer and 3 footer for scenic considerations. The modules would use the front Orange passing track made to look like the prototypical 4 track mainline that Hyde Park had at the time and concidentally fit in with our group's "unofficial" four track standard. I am sure that David would welcome your experienced advice on any and all things, but you should describe how you create lightweaght foamboard modules for easy transportation. Regards, "John Henry" John Henry Low

Re: Fall Stuff
Robert Gatland <rgatland@...>
Attention Geoff and other Show Coordinators.
I can't attend the Poughkeepsie show. I most likely can attend the Nov. 18 PCC if modules are needed. I should also be able to attend the Dec 2 GTE show. If you need both my 8' unit (bridge scene) and the 4' access lift bridge module, I will try to get somebody to help me transport one of them. I can also bring the gear for DCC, but I hesitate to set it up unless I know that that there be other members running on it. You are welcome to bring T-TRAK modules to the Dec 9 show in Glens Falls. You can also bring your favorite DCC train to run on our N scale layout at the nearby club. Bob Gatland

Fall Stuff
nuddffoeg <nuddffoeg@...>
Hi all. I've got several things to mention. This is redundant if
you're on the email list. 1. A reminder - the Poughkeepsie show is Sunday, November 11th. Mark is the contact. He has not had a lot of responses - please let him know soon if you want to put modules in that show. If more people don't express interest, we may have to cancel our participation this year. 2. Hobbytown display. We may be able to set up a few modules at Hobbytown USA (in Colonie) again. Possible dates are SATURDAY, November 10th, or SATURDAY, November 17th. The first date isn't good for a few of us, and the second date is the day before the PCC show. However, the layout will be linear, like last time, so it will be a fairly simple setup. Any interest? Contact me or Doug. 3. PCC show - November 18th. I haven't contacted the organizer yet, but after the HO guys blew him off last spring, we shouldn't have any problem getting space in the main room. Although running trains in the bar was lots of fun last fall, it apparently cost a lot to rent, and won't be available again. Please let me know if you're interested in participating. 4. GTE, at the Plaza in Albany - December 2. Setup on Saturday, December 1. Let me know by Thanksgiving if you're interested. 5. Glens Falls show, December - probably a T-Trak layout - long way away... 6. We should have a work session to finish the new club corners. "When" will be problematic for the next few months. 7. I haven't heard from some of you in a long time. I'm going to trim the mailing list, so if you haven't been active and you want to stay on the list, let me know. 8. Doug's PC went to Hard Drive Heaven, so he's got no email or web access at home until he gets a new computer. If you need to reach him in the next few weeks, call him. Call, write, fax, or email. Or use the Yahoo Groups board. Lube your engines and clean your wheels - it's train-runnin' time again! Geoff

A bit of info: The Kingston show will be held on April 6th, 2008 at tech city. Who wanted to make the Hogwart's Express? Mark? A guy named Blaine Bachman has a sheet of decals for $7.50. He also has information on the correct engine and cars. I've been selling off my cars, if anyone wants to see the current lists, (MT and non-MT) let me know and I'll send a copy. I'm currently looking for Atlas flats/pigs for my army train, anyone with Atlas ERIE, C&O or New Haven flats they can trade or sell? Brian Hilgenberg

Miscellaneous Stuff
nuddffoeg <nuddffoeg@...>
Three things...
1. There will be no meeting this Saturday. Not enough people could make it. We still should schedule a work session to finish the club corners sometime. Suggestions? 2. Mark is still looking for people to attend the Poughkeepsie show. So far, only Mark is bringing modules. Contact Mark if you're interested in setting up. 3. Doug's computer bit the dust, so if you want to contact him over the next few weeks, he suggests calling him. Enjoy the fall - see you at a show! Geoff
