Folks I should have included my sincere thanks to all of you for going along with this change and working to get familiar with the new sites. There are some differences and please keep me informed if you have troubles. Cheers. David Crotty

Re: "Leave Behinds" - suggestions for divesting?

These are common first flight covers. I suggest eBay, and price them at about $5 each. Ken Sanford

100th Anniversary of Airmail in the USA
Dave Giles
Aside from Texas air postal history and Texas postmarks on airmail stamps, I also collect airmail postmarks. I am hoping there are lots of postmarks commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Airmail in the USA, this year. Has anyone heard of anything special for this, like a stamp or postmark? Cheers! I seem to have managed to transfer the files for the two groups.io sites that I manage. Please start using them rather than the yahoo groups. Cheers.

Bermuda FFC to Pt. Washington
Dan Gribbin
I'm wondering if this hand-stamped, two-line cachet on a cover carried Bermuda to Pt. Washington, NY, April 7, 1938, is particularly scarce. I have a couple of other covers from this route and decided to stick my neck out and bid on this one, since I'd never seen such a cachet.

Moving day
GreyOldDave
Folks, We have initiated the process of moving our Aerophilately@... to Aerophilaely@groups.io You have seen the messages about this in the last few weeks. The process of moving our group appears to take a week or more. Once the transfer is complete you will get messages about that. After all the transfer is complete the way to communicate with members will be by sending an email message to the new address Aerophilately@groups.io In the meantime the yahoo group is still active and seems to be running normally. Once the transfer is complete and I am sure it is working I will delete the yahoo group. I'll let you know when that will happen Cheers. David Crotty

Re: Interesting First Flt Imperial Airways
Hargreaves Kingston
Hi! There was uncertainty at the time of the First Flights, as to how FFCs would be sent from the end of the flight back to the addressee. It looks like Mr. Jones wanted to be sure that his cover travelled on the First Flight from Botwood to Montreal, and returned on the First Flight from Montreal to Botwood. He therefore paid 10 cents for air to Montreal, and an additional 10 cents for the air mail postage from Montreal back to Botwood. If this is what he wanted, he was successful. - The Montreal backstamp confirms his cover was carried to Montreal. The return flight left Montreal on August 10th, and arrived in Botwood the same day. This cover then continued by rail to St. John's, where it arrived on August 12th, and the cover was backstamped. However, it turns out that the extra postage wasn't necessary. - I have a cover from Botwood to Montreal on August 6th franked 10 cents, that was also returned to Newfoundland by the Imperial Airways flight, and backstamped in St. John's on August 12th. Chris
