Re: Fw: Airmail cover from Washington State to England (underpaid)
Ken
Dear All,
The reason the postage due was specified in centimes was because under the Universal Postal Union, French was the standard language. I don’t think the cover would have been sent through France. Regards, Ken Sanford |

I acquired this cover on a well known auction site. It appears to be a Jusqu’a cover, sent from Yakima. But I am puzzled by the “T 10 Centimes” and the “To Pay 34” handstamps. I also am not sure what route it would have taken. I assume air to NY, then sea to England, but perhaps the “Centimes” indicates via Mexico or perhaps France? Any help gratefully appreciated. I’m looking for some research help.
I’m writing an in-depth history of the Post Office at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY. This is a follow-up to a book I recently published, “Postmarked West Point: A US Postal History of West Point and its Graduates” (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08SFZCVST?ref_=pe_3052080_397514860).
In 1932, when Jimmy Doolittle made his George Washington Bicentennial Airplane Flight, one of the places he flew over and dropped mail was West Point. I’m hoping to find a cover similar to the one described in the attachment to this message, but postmarked West Point.
I don’t need the cover, just good photos of the front and back. I’ll be happy to give credit to anyone who can provide such photos in the event that I am able to publish my article.
Is it possible to survey your members to find out if anyone has such a cover?
Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

Re: US air mail stamps since 2013
The last air mail stamp listed in the 2020 Scott Specialized catalog is C150, issued January 20, 2012. There is also the Forever stamp 5281 and 5282 that says Air Mail on it, but is not really an air mail stamp.
I hope that's of some help to you. Curt Heckert |

US air mail stamps since 2013
GreyOldDave
AS you know the AAMS has long provided an Air Mail Stamp Album. The latest page has stamps from 2013 and 2014. So my question is: did the US issue any stamps since then that we would consider to be air mail stamps? If so, who was keeping the album up to date? As webmaster for the AAMS website I get questions like that once in awhile. Cheers. David Crotty |

We have an excellent exhibit of commercial Zeppelin mail that you might like to look over.
then click Resources
then click Exhibits (btw you need to be a member of the AAMS to get in here)
we have five exhibits loaded right now, the first being the Zeppelin exhibit. This exhibit is about mail carried as commercial mail so it will not show first flight covers and other "philatelic" items.
