Hi, All,

Much to my surprise, after losing the first two games at home, Mt. Lebanon came roaring back to sweep the 9 in Mudville to take a 3-2 lead in the series.  The series now comes back to Western Pennsylvania as the Terriers try to close things out.  But, they have yet to win a home play off game and Mudville has their ace, Steve Carlton on the mound.

Game Six:   Carlton v Bannister

It was a rematch of game 3 starters.  Bannister won that game, could he beat Lefty twice?

Both pitchers were had their A game going early.  Through three innings the game was scoreless and neither offense showed much "offense."

Bernazard led off the fourth with a double.  He advanced to third on a Madlock single.  Clark followed with a single to score Bernazard and Mad Dog made it to third.  Gamble walked to load the bases.  Manager Rogers kept the infield deep and he got his double play, but Madlock sored.  2-0 Mt. Lebanon.

Bannister was unable to start the 5th, coming down with an arm injury.  Don Hood came in and retired the side in order.  He began to tire, though, in the 6th.  With two outs, Brett singled (his second of the game) and Bell followed with another single.  Murray walked to load the bases.  La Roche came in to pitch and got Oliver to pop up to end the threat.

In the bottom of the 6th, Madlock homered to lengthen the Terriers' lead to 3-0.

And that would be it.  La Roche, DeLeon, and Howe shut down the potent Mudville offense and Mt. Lebanon advances with a 3-0 victory and a 4-2 series victory.

Mudville  0-5-0
Mt. Leb.  3-9-0

W:  Hood (1-0)
L:  Carlton (0-2)
S:  Howe, 2

I really did not expect this result.  After game two I was sure the Terriers would go home early.  Kevin, you had a great season and you could have easily advance instead of me

Take care,

Steve
P. S.  I forgot to save the script. :-(
