You’re right, but it’s not smart to take an iffy offer just because they asked first. Not saying that trade was bad, but how can you really know? People overpay for pitching all the time.

For the health of the league it is very important for teams that are shopping players to let the league know they’re available. I doubt anyone other than the person who got them knew that
