Re: ASSL '80: Trade

This is a retro league where values should be known, at least compared to modern leagues where players could come down with a serious injury.

Its really up to the individual owners to either put out names of players that are available or not.  There are many people like me that will target a certain player that they want - for me - Lou Whitaker.  Then, I would approach the owner with various options.  Why would I announce to the league what players that I am willing to put up for trade when I am looking for a Whitaker or other specific needs.

Often I see players A and B are available.  Looking for young guys.

So, announcing players availability works and sometimes it doesn't.

You’re right, but it’s not smart to take an iffy offer just because they asked first.  Not saying that trade was bad, but how can you really know?  People overpay for pitching all the time.

Guys,

For the health of the league it is very important for teams that are shopping players to let the league know they’re available.  I doubt anyone other than the person who got them knew that Richard, Romo, and Bahnsen were available and lots of teams fancy themselves contenders and could have used them as one-year pitchers.  Maybe the seller could have received more than they did.

I and most others don’t have the time to pore over every roster to see who MIGHT be available so putting guys out to the league like Cucamonga did is a great thing to do.

Cascade/Duane: Email Address Note

Steven Galbraith

Duane wasn't receiving messages because he had two separate email addresses listed in his membership. He had an older one that he stopped using; and then he signed up using a new one. Two memberships with two addresses. But the messages were ONLY going to his old email address (I believe) and not his new one.

So apparently if you have two email addresses listed to receive message groupsIO will only send them to the first/oldest one. It will ignore the newer one. Be sure then, if you're changing addresses to delete the old email address from the membership directory.

In any case, he's back in.

That's odd, since Duane is participating every week in another league I'm in with him.

Since Cascade has the next pick, I guess that means the draft is shut doen unitl you recruit a new member and give him time to digest his team, right?

Also, Duane is not responding to emails so it looks like I'll have to get a replacement. Not a great time to drop out of the league.
