TS-2000

I have used my Kenwood TS-2000 with any problems, now it will not Transmit and I can hear it receive packets but does not show or transmit. I have the port enabled I heave beaconing enabled. I know the port is working as I did a reset on the radio and reloaded everything back into it. I have this set on the port as simple kiss. I need help its driving me nuts.

First thing I look at with the TS2000 when it goes weird is the Com port communication speed. Sometimes it gets changed for some gremlin type reason.

I would also make sure that your Com Port on the PC didn't change

Thank you Sir. I have checked the many times thinking that was it. The com port and speed have not changed. but thank you.

Good luck in finding the problem and I can confirm it's a pain... Try looking to see if a driver has changed, assuming it's Windows who change drivers when they do an update !!!!?

You 3 places to check your speed
The radio
The software
And the com port itself into the device manager. All 3 needs to be the same.

Or the driver have change with a Window update. Happen a lot of times to me.

If the TS-2000 internal TNC is the same as other Kenwoods, then Simply(KISS) isn't going to do it for you as that port type expects the TNC to be lcoked into KISS mode.  Try disabling that port and create a new port with type KISS and see if your problems go away.

But before that, you can bring up the Port(<YourPortName>) trace log, enable it, and I suspect you'll see complaints about missing F0 which is a sure sign that the TNC is not speaking KISS and APRSIS32 expects it to be.

Ok, given those <OpenCmd>s, you have a KISS-type port and not a Simply(KISS) port.

Was the TS-2000 TNC in Packet mode before you enabled the port or started APRSIS32?  Kenwood's internal TNCs are picky about such things.

I have done it both ways. This time I had the radio on in PKT mode and created the port.

I have a siglink usb for main and use the internal tnc for sub-band radio.
Found I have to use the menu command and turn the tnc off and repower radio
to run JT mode ( frequency remote control over rs232 ) when switching back into
packet mode hit radio menu button , turn the tnc back on, and repower the radio.
load direwolf for main band and then start aprsis32 that runs the sub band radio.
1 radio , two data channels 144.39 and 145.825
If we leave the squelch open on the sub band radio I will see the STA led light after
a while , then i know the s/ware is waiting to send a packet and its all working.

For using my TS-2000 with APRSIS32 Development version, in creating a usable RF Port, I chose the (KWD710(PKT)), as the Kenwood TS-2000 has the same internal TASCO Radio Modem as the Kenwood TM-D710).
NO KISS!

With APRSIS32 DEV running on a new port using above selection, turn off TS-2000,
Set up Trace/Port(TS-2000) and view Log.
