APRSISCE and D-700
Michael Coslo
I’m working at installing APRSISCE in my car using My D-700. Looking through the group, I see the program is apparently not supported on the D-700?
It’s been a while - my last install used Streets and Trips. I have a USB GPS, and APRISCE fixes FB on it. I just haven’t gotten it to receive or transmit skwaks yet. - 73 - - Michael Coslo N3LI - Frequency Coordinator, Beaver Stadium President, Nittany Amateur Radio Club mjc5@... mjcn3li@... aprsisce works fine on tthe d700 - i have it here running as an igate... just use the specific config option in the port (knwd-d700 or something like that and it will auto configure it just setup your d700 to have the packet tnc running on the A side and have the frequency already setup etc when it boots aprsisce it will auo put it in packet mode and go from there, this way you can have aprs on vfoA and still use VFO-B for other stuff (in my case, wl2k node using a signalink)

It better work with a D700 because that's the mobile APRS radio that I own! I interface it via a Bluetooth to serial link when I hook it all together. The KISS type port is designed for Kenwood APRS radios, but the radio must be in Packet mode before starting APRSIS32 or enabling the port. Or you can use the KWD700(KISS) type port and APRSIS32 will switch the radio to KISS mode for you, IIRC, regardless of what mode the radio is already in. Or you can use KWD700(RO+GPS) if you have a GPS connected to the
radio and want to get some sentences from it passed into APRSIS32
as a location source. Lynn (D) - KJ4ERJ - Author of APRSISCE

Okay - I see the problem - it was part of a post you wrote back in 2020.

"APRSIS32 only supports the D710 in APRS mode, not the D700.” Doh! Incomplete reading on my part. Sorry for any confusion. - 73 - - Michael Coslo N3LI - Frequency Coordinator, Beaver Stadium President, Nittany Amateur Radio Club mjc5@... mjcn3li@... To concur, I use a D700 with APRSISCE32 - running a digi/igate under windows 10 is a royal pain with all those updates however!
Because I live in an APRS vacuum, I gate some IS packets to RF to see if I can awaken some local APRS interest (with the node I can walk all round the town and see traffic at a low level on a handy). I limit internet=>RF traffic to 10miles ranges or thereabouts - few weeks ago a Belgian station decided to gate glider traffic straight to APRS-IS, the trouble was 1) They were beaconing every three seconds and 2) I had THREE of them flying within 10miles at the same time....... Lesson learned. Good job no-one is listening lol. Carl GW0TQM Last I knew it worked with a 700 http://aprsisce.wikidot.com/tnc-d700 |

Carl, Were they all using the same symbol? You can filter the symbol out of your IS to RF stream fairly easily. I believe you can also filter out the source station, but I'd need help getting the syntax right on that one.
