Since I run a full feed station that gets these assignments for
the entire planet, I automatically click "Never" so that folks
getting carried away with defining tactical nicknames with no

A tactical assignment is basically an alias that you can assign to a specific station. The use of an alias may make it easier for people observing the graphical display to identify the "tactical" role of that station. For example, with a running event, you may have a tracker on a unit that is pacing the LEADing MALE runner , units at WATER stations along the route, maybe at AID stations. It is much easier for non-amateurs to look at a map and identify the roles of the stations when tactical calls are used rather than government assigned callsigns. The pop up you are seeing is asking for your input as to what you want to do with the tactical assignment you have received from this station. 1) You can trust the tactical assignment. This will accept the assignment just this one time. 2) You can always trust the tactical assignments from this station. This will accept this assignment, and all other tactical assignments from this station in the future. 3) You can never trust the tactical assignments from this station. This will reject this assignment, and all other tactical assignments from this station in the future. 4) You can reject the tactical assignment. This will reject the assignment just this one time. The procedure to implement this feature would be to press one of the buttons at the bottom of the dialog window that matches your desired action. Tactical assignments can only be seen on devices that understand and accept tactical assignments. APRSISCE/32 has this ability. Xastir, SarTrack, and YAAC also support tactical assignments. There may be more. aprs.fi does not support tactical assignments, so you will still see the callsign of the origin station. KA7EZO-7 is attempting to have the label on that station show up as MPSAR on your screen. James VE6SRV
