APRS and Signalink

Bob Davet

Was using a KPC3 for UI-View. Switched to APRSIS32. Can't seem to get it to work.

So, I have made a switch, I am using a singalink USB. I have the AWG port set up. I have my FT-1500M in Packet mode and 1200baud.
Correct cables are plugged into the appropriate plugs on Signalink and Computer.
I am also running Soundmodem app. Everything in there seems to be setup correctly because it is acting like I think it should.
I am getting data in that app. When I go into Calibration, Channel A tones light up the PTT on signalink and that is all. Not using Channel B,

What is not happening is the Signalink is not going into PTT when I hit transmit, which in turn does not set the FT-1500M into transmit.
I have the Signalink pinned according to the pin out on the signalink website and cable from them. (I do have the pin out board on order)

Can someone give me some ideas where to look to see what is not set up correctly?

Thanks
Bob

I think the SignaLink-USB still uses an internal VOX type of circuit to control the radio PTT line.
Is the PTT LED coming on when you try to transmit?
If 'YES', the issue is the SignaLink to radio interface (as you stated)
      a) Internal jumpers matching the wiring
      b) Wires match the FT1500
If 'NO', the issue is probably the audio level the signal
Set the audio level as high as possible on whatever control the APP (SoundModem) has.
Control the actual output with the front TX knob.
For Yes, you may want to open up the SignaLink, take out a meter and check continuity between Data Jack PIN 3 (PTT) all the way PTT side the the 16-pin DIP.

When you hit calibrate do you hear a steady tone on another radio? If yes then the transmit portion is working and you probably need to create a port to talk to sound modem.
