Found a software utility that can remove "Portxxx In Use" and allow Windows to reuse the port with another attached device. That solved my issue.

I noticed in a previous message you said you could see the GPS data stream in putty. Be sure you have closed that com port in putty or shut putty down so aprsis32 can open it.

The "NMEA Open" means it is trying to open the port.

Are you sure something else doesn't already have the port open? Or you don't have an RF GPS port enabled? Rob KB8RCO

In the Connection Status box, what does it mean when it shows "NMEA Open, First" and "APRS-IS OK First". I am getting Scroller activity from either Wifi or a hot spot. There is no speed nor direction, and there is NO Time/Date nor GPS Fix Type in those boxes. Consequently, it will not find my location.
