KPC3 Setup
Last week I got my messaging question out of the way.
Taking baby steps with this program.
I have read the documentation and watched the videos, but still not understanding how to hook my computer running APRSIS32 to my Kantronics KPC3 and then to my radio (FT1500M)
I have had it hooked up and running UI-View. With this program not going anywhere, I have been looking for a suitable replacement. I think APRSIS32 is it.
I would like to get someone that can walk me through hooking up the KPC3 and getting it functioning with APRSIS32.
Right now everything is still hooked up from using UI-View.
It has been so long, years, since I set up UI-View that I am like a beginner.
I am OK, making this happen over many posts or emails. Just need to go one step at a time.
Thanks
Bob

That's a really big question - "how to hook up the KPC-3"
you'll need to interface the KPC-3 with the computer via a serial cable into a traditional COM port, or... invest in a modern USB-to-Serial converter, which will then present a new COM port to the computer. You'll need to put the Kantronics into KISS mode. The way to do that is to connect to the Kantronics via hyperterminal (or a new program called PUTty) and place the Kantronics into KISS mode.
The interface cable to the radio is very much radio-specific, but long story short you need to break-out the pin-out for the microphone and the speaker output and feed those back into the other port on the back of the Kantronics.
finally, once you have the hardware setup, the APRS/32 software will need a new port set on KISS-Simply mode to talk to the KPC-3. (not the straight "KISS" mode.)
That's a 30,000 foot overview. It will take much more steps to finalize.

Hardware: DR-135 to KPC3+ via data jack-RF linkSo you have 2 TNCs connected to the same radio. I guess technically, you could have 3, since the sound card is stereo.
DR-135 to PC via SABRENT USB Audio Stereo Sound Card- WWW link
All going through AGWpe as different ports (I assume).
And connected to a radio with an optional internal TNC (EJ-41U or T3-135).
I'd be interested in how you have the the TNCs connected?
Any issues with PTT?

no sir have one radio one TNC kpcs 3 is set up as a Digi Standalone Digi and then audio comes from the speaker audio off the same radio on the digi to a sound card to a PCSo, the KPC3 is not in KISS mode to communicate with a computer APRS client.
It has RX and TX capability in "standard mode" to decode packets, determines whether to DIGI them, and acts on them accordingly?
BUT ... it appears you are only using AGW as a decoder (radio speaker audio to sound card) with no computer audio to the radio mic.
I think I got it now. Your APRSIS32 instance is receive only. APRSIS32 cannot send anything over RF.
BTW, if you are using AGW with a sound card to decode audio tones into data and encodes data into audio tones, that "is" a TNC.
And since each audio channel is "technically" a separate TNC, your stereo sound card with AGW could produce 2 TNCs, itself.
Interesting configuration.
