How do I check if I have write access to the default directory? I installed  the program as Administrator.

So, first question: does the XML have the correct Time Stamp now?

I'll let Lynn speak to the object side of things, but have you set "Devel Mode"?
That may not be necessary for you use case, but I still recommend it.

FYI - I found the latest Windows updates will likely protect any folder on C: that is not in your {user} area ( C:\users\{username} ).  They are getting much more restrictive!  And Annoying!

PS: Most annoying Microsoft things is you cannot 'easily' remove Phone Apps from your desktop installation.
I understand the one OS fits all concept, but I don't need phone specific 'stuff' on my desktop computer

If you want to start over, just create a simple directory somewhere that Windows does not protect.  Unzip the distribution into that directory (or copy APRSIS32.exe into there).   Double-click the .EXE in the newly created directory and re-configure.   All should be well.

For convenient access, you can create a SHORTCUT on the desktop pointing to the APRSIS32.exe in that folder.  Make sure you don't copy the .EXE onto the desktop, or that's where APRSIS32 will put all of its files.

Since the file date/time stamp isn't changing, it looks like it is a permissions issue.

Where did you install the program?
Legacy Windows programs (pre Windows 7) had configuration files in either Windows (typically INI files) or the applications (programs) folder (any and all other files).  NOW, Windows requires application parameter files to be stored in one of the subfolders of \users\{your user}\AppData {Local, LocalLow, Roaming} under the application name.

Microsoft has become "VERY RESTRICTIVE" with their permissions on application folders.  Their philosophy is that NO "parameter files" should be stored in an application folder, so legacy application configurations can only be installed in the certain folders with proper permissions.

My recommended setup:
Create a folder for Legacy programs (I use C:\WinApps)
After creating it, Right-Click on the folder and go to "Properties" and then "Security"
I like to give "Users" and "Authenticated Users" full control.
If you do this before adding any programs, it makes life easier.
Under this folder, you can add programs like APRSIS32 which save configuration files in the application folder.
I tend to create subfolders for different things (Radio, Electronics, ...) but that isn't necessary.

Create shortcuts to your desktop or menu as needed.
To add things to you menu go to this folder:
      C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
and create a shortcut in the appropriate place there.

Nothing changed in that area in the new update.   Are you sure APRSIS32 has write access to the default directory when you run it?

The timestamp of the APRSIS32.XML configuration file should update every time you close the application.  If not, then APRSIS32 isn't able to save the configuration when you close the application.

I've been running on Windows 11 since pre-release.   There are no issues with APRSIS32 once you get used to the other changes that Windows 11 brings with it.

I have three Overlays and a half dozen stationary targets input on my screen. However, when I Exit and bring APRSIS32 back up, most are gone except for one of the Overlays. What might be causing this loss of data?
