Make sure you have created a new directory and unzipped the download into that directory before double-clicking the .EXE.   Double-clicking from within a .ZIP viewer will NOT work.

Look at the ToCall of the DSTAR stations and use a -u/ filter to knock them out.

If you provide a few example DSTAR station IDs, I can be more specific.

It's a problem of his choice of Symbol.  He has selected \l (backslash lower case L) which is an Area Object symbol.  See the Area Objects section of aprs101.pdf on page 60.  I suspect he's including a speed and heading in the packet, but that gets interpreted as the object type and color along with the size of the object.  Yep, as he moves around, the "Area Object" his packet is describing will flail rather interestingly.

He just needs to change his symbol to not be an Area Object.  There's nothing else wrong with his packets as I can see them.

Sadly, Toolbar>Screen>Labels>Footprint doesn't fix this problem.  It appears that the KJ6DZB-3 is sending telemetry in his position beacon, and APRSIS32 seems to display it as a multiline object (see attached screen capture), NOT a footprint.  Sometimes it is a circle, several minutes later it turns into a vertical line extending upward, and other times it is 2 vertical lines extending upward and downward (see attached capture).

That isn't really the worst part though.  His relatively long position beacon is being sent at approximately 30 sec. to 1 minute intervals (appears it may be GPS dither) in the middle of one of the most densely populated APRS areas of the world using a path of WIDE1-1,WIDE2-2. That is seldom necessary in that area.  WIDE2 digi's are very common in the area, and are usually located on very tall peaks, so coverage is very good.  When in that area, I usually change my path to WIDE2-1 and do as well as can be expected given the system saturation.  I have never seen the need for WIDE1.

I don't know anything about a SainSonic AP510 tracker, but it appears something is wrong.

BTW, there are currently 2 other stations on the planet (in the last 2 hours) using the Area Object symbol.  But neither of them has a speed/heading following it so no funky objects are drawn since the parse fails.

Fred,

It's not "footprint" or PHG.  Lynn sent the following a year ago, but I am still annoyed by it and haven't found a way to get rid of it.  aprs.fi doesn't show it...

---------------------------------------------------

KJ6DZB-3 is a SainSonic AP510 which, IIRC, is tricky to set a
symbol in. This station managed to set a symbol to the secondary table
(\) lower case L (l) which is an "Area Object" to APRS. This is
described in chapter 11 on page 60 of aprs101.pdf. Basically, because
of this symbol, the nnn/mmm in the station's packets are being
interpreted as the type, color, and lat/lon offsets of an area object.
Here's the salient section from aprs101.pdf:

> Area Objects
> Using the \l symbol (i.e. the lower-case letter “L” symbol from the
> Alternate
> Symbol Table) it is possible to define circle, line, ellipse, triangle
> and box

and it goes on to provide some examples of this.

So, APRSIS32 is just displaying what the station is (inadvertently, most
likely) asking it to display. If you can contact this operator, have
him set his symbol to something else and the visual effects should quit
happening and the nnn/mmm will go back to being interpreted as speed and
heading as s/he likely intends.

---------------------------------------------------

I contacted the operator, and he doesn't care.

I've been asking this question for years without any reasonable answer.  Is there any way to block objects or whatever the heck they are coming from one station?  This one station, KJ6DZB-3 is constantly sending junk like this (and it varies) because his tracker is set wrong.  He doesn't seem to care.  I care because it messes up the APRSIS32 screen, and there isn't any way to stop it as far as I know.  Help please on this...  This is via RF, and via internet is even worse.  Try having stuff like this appear on the screen while doing an event!

!Shriek!s are the way to handle what you see during an event.  If you have stations that can't (or won't) insert the !shriek! in their comment, you can simply give them a nickname that includes the !shriek!.  Then you won't see anything you're not interested in.

And no, there isn't any way to "blacklist" anything, especially if it's coming from RF.  On the APRS-IS side, you can always add sufficient -b/station* options to not receive specific stations.  Remember, any APRS-IS filter can be negated.

Re: can't View All because of "Transport" setting

View / None and confirm it.  Then reset whatever you actually wanted set, or simply View / All.

Playing around today, and I clicked on some of the View -> Transport settings.  Now I can't see stations because I can't figure out how to get "Transport" back to some sort of All.  It only seems to like one or none selected.  It must be a simple thing, but I don't see it.

Help with that...
