Pixelated Map Again

KD7YZ Bob

A while back I answered my own question about this. Apparently that wasn't the answer.

When I started APRSIS32 this AM I saw the pixelated map again. Thus I did another reboot. This did not fix the problem.

Is there a config of settings file I can delete which is then rebuilt at a new program startup ... and that would put me back to a 'correct' map?

The version I am using is 2020/05/19 21:42 fwiw.

I don't know if I have ever written to this group again, but saying thank you is not a bad thing to do from time to time, I don't usually use the program on the APRS network, I have an old Pentium IV running UIView next to my weather station, but yes I use it in D-Star and this is one of the good reasons to use APRSIS32. And yes, what you see is DPRS, what I said thank you very much.

Re: APRSIS settings for ISS

Lynn Deffenbaugh

No, in this case Fred is really talking about an APRS message addressed to "ISS". In order to be easy to remember, my SATSRV pass auto-responder watches for true "messages" addressed to satellite "names" (or numbers) and responds with the next pass information for the location last beaconed for the message source.

The auto-responder isn't ON the ISS because then you wouldn't be able to send a message to it if it wasn't visible, so what would be the point.

And rather than some esoteric auto-responder address that no one is likely to remember, I chose to use the satellite name as the addressee since none of the satellites service APRS messages anyway.

Maybe the proper term was that a "packet" was ssent to ISS, not a specifi message?

Re: Where is Add Filter?

Lynn Deffenbaugh

& is a special character in XML, so it is escaped via &

As long as you don't edit the XML with the client running, everything will be good. It is best to use the GUI to make changes to parameters when you can. Some (Development mode and Digipeating come to mind) do require editing the XML which must be done with teh client CLOSED or you will lose your edits.

-s//a&/D

General form of a symbol filter is:

s/pri/alt/over

So this filter will suppress (-) all symbols a or & in the alternate table with a D overlay.

so, the Filter reads to block all Da AND all D&

Yep.

which are the two red or black diamonds in which a "D" is overlaid ??
I'm assuming you are correct on that one. I didn't verify the a and & alternate symbols.

WOW! whodah thunk?

In "General" . I have seen that blank space a ge-dozen times and never paid attention to it.

Lynn has several "Links" he posted in that 2015 reply he made. I see the 'suggested' filter. I read the link to Symbols page and kinda gleaned how they are placed into the filter construct.

I believe the filter is now located on Line-8 of the aprsis32.xml as:

<Filter>-s//a&/D</Filter>

though I typed -s//a&/D into the General/Add Filter box.

Will Line-8 Persist after closing Program?

And, is the filter construct inside the first // an "a" AND a "&" as the character individually following the second / .... a "D"

so, the Filter reads to block all Da AND all D&

which are the two red or black diamonds in which a "D" is overlaid ??

Many thanks for the excellently pointed reply.

A few of us in the Vancouver BC area have been pushing APRS. Lately ISS is been coming up. Is there any setting in Path or anywhere else. I'm using a Mobilink TNC3 with a cheap HT normally on 144.390. I've moved to 145.850.
