It's ok to keep the conversation here. I'm sure there are others with D7s that could benefit or contribute.

Thanks Lynn!
I didn't get the radio to respond to PuTTY so have work to do. I'll save this list from non-APRSIS32 related chatter though.

Yes, that should be correct. I haven't personally tested the D7, but I suspect there are some out there using one with APRSIS32.
One key would be to connect the cabling to the radio and

Kenwood THD-7
Hi everyone,
I am looking to experiment with 9K6 APRS with a local friend of mine. As I have an unused Kenwood THD-7 this becomes the obvious choice for my (70cm) I-gate. (Im aware of its limitations

Re: A Question about Digipeating
Just in case, the callsign of the mobile MUST be different from the callsign
of the receiving station because APRS ignores its own call.

You’d mentioned this before. However I see it differently now that I have used the Com port output of my D710.
And here is a quote from there too:

Re: I want to operate aprs while listening to hf on another band is that possible?
The idea is to use a mono band 2 meter for dedicated APRS. Signal band 2 meter radio are pretty inexpensive.

I'm trying really hard not to comment on a WIDE1-1,WIDE3-3 path...
And it was completely used!
But I'm glad you're seeing the behavior you were wanting to accomplish.

The cheap Chinese dual bands tend to have a long turnaround time. That is they take several times longer (up to 7x) to go from tx to being able to rx. The few tests I’ve seen online show a lot less

How would one of the cheap Chinese HT connected to a outside antenna using a PS work? I would not want to tie up a high dollar dual band for APRS

Re: I want to operate aprs while listening to hf on another band is that possible?
The FT857 will not operate in that manner. Many of the dual band radios will not either. The 857 is single receive/transmit. The typical dual band is dual receive/single transmit.
I tend to use older
