Re: NEW USER NEEDS HELP
Rob Giuliano
The APRS-IS network only 'stores' the first packet it receives for any given transmission. Since your station is configured to send a packet to APRS-IS, the TCP packet is the first one it receives. All receptions of that packet will be considered "DUPE" and ignored. Digipeating is enabled/disabled through manual XML editing (as you seem to have done). This follows the standard XML format. If you properly added DigiXform outside the RF port designations (typically below the commented one): <!--DigiXform--> <DigiXform>WIDE1-1=WIDE1-1</DigiXform> and now want to disable it, you have 2 options: 1. delete the line 2. comment out the line <!--DigiXform>WIDE1-1=WIDE1-1</DigiXform--> I have seen other comment it out this way, but have not tried it: <!-- <DigiXform>WIDE1-1=WIDE1-1</DigiXform> --> APRSIS32 will act as an IGATE if you have an RF port configured, and you are connected to the APRS-IS network. This requires 3 things (I believe): APRS-IS port properly configured under Menu >Configure >Ports >APRS-IS APRS-IS valid passcode under Menu >Configure >General >Passcode APRS-IS Enabled under Menu >Enables >APRS-IS Enabled KB8RCO

Re: AGWPE not working.
Alder Kail
Alright. So the issue was fixed, The windows privacy setting that disables microphone access to programs was enabled. It caused AGW to crash occasionally, and the second icon (The modem icon) to never show up. My dad was the one that changed the setting and since there was no way to know this setting had been changed I guess checking it slipped my mind. Also I didn't notice anything was wrong with the sound card when I was going down my checklist so I assumed it was a port issue. Thanks for all the great suggestions, sorry to 'cry wolf' in here when it was something so simple! My igate is operational again.
If anything, lessons learned: Don't assume it isn't a sound input related issue just because the sound card is working. Make sure nothing software related (Thanks windows) is blocking it. I didn't know it would make AGW react that way. I'll definitely reference all of your messages next time something like this happens as well, again thanks for the great advice! 73, KI5IBL

Re: AGWPE not working.

Do you have either of the 2 icons in the bottom left tray?
If none, it is not loading at all. If only 'packet engine', then the configuration file is not being loaded. The TNC engine icon will show when the configuration is complete. If you have both icons, then the interface between AGW and the application would be the next review. Are you running on the same computer - localhost or 127.0.0.1? Check the IP address and IP port (make sure they are not already in use). As for the alternative applications, it depends on your configuration. Are you using AGW with a soundcard or a physical TNC? There is a list of TNCs to choose from, including soundcard. Some people use it with a physical TNC to send the packets over a network. If you are using it with a sound card, then either UZ7HO and Direwolf will work for you. If you are using a physical TNC, you need to use something like APRX or LDSped (I think both have Windows versions).

Re: AGWPE not working.
Lynn Deffenbaugh
AA0DY, that sounds like a change in APRSIS32 settings to get it to talk to your functional AGWPE installation. If I understood KI5IBL correctly, he's having trouble getting his AGWPE to start up which is of course a per-requisite for using it from APRSIS32. And for KI5IBL, there is always UZ7HO (?)'s SoundModem or the
more actively developed and supported Direwolf software packages
that provide soft TNC functions between sound card input from a
radio and packet output communications with APRSIS32. Lynn (D) - KJ4ERJ - Author of APRSISCE

I had a similar problem that was resolved by setting the port assignment to use IP 127.0.0.1 and port 8000. After that the radio would transmit and show packets similar to those shown in this thread. AA0DY

I'm not exactly sure if it's something that I messed up myself or something that happened during the recent windows update, but AGWPE won't boot I seem to be using AGWPE alright here. Dunno what I am doing differently than you though.

I read something about it being a possible port conflict but I'm not super knowledgeable about that, and even so I'm not sure why it would even be that considering it was working fine just last week and then almost seemingly stopped 'out of no where'. If anyone has any suggestions about how to fix it, or other packet engines out there I could use that would be a big help. I just want to get my igate working again!

The line indicated is a Heard digipeated packet path from a station off screen, detected but NOT directed to ME.

Re: The Green, Red and Orange Lines radiating out from "ME" ?

Or it might be an RF-Only packet sent by KF0ED that was gated to
the APRS-IS by a station that is off-screen. But most likely you
copied a digipeat of your own packet. At least, that's what my
memory tells me. Lynn (D) - KJ4ERJ - Author of APRSISCE

If I have this right (hoping Lynn will correct me if not) That is a packet for KF0ED going to a station that is off screen and has a pixel width of 2. I believe that would be a digipeated packet that the station sent that got sent back to it. Adam

I thought Lynn already answered this. The colors and thicknesses are all configurable via Screen-Paths-Appearance menu. What color do you want to see your packets? (these are Orange) What links do you want to see? Mine, RF Only, All, Direct (with pixel thickness and color) I am the first station to receive this packet (with pixel thickness and color) Can you open up this menu and give us a screen shot, and a screen shot of your main window, then we might be able to better answer your question because it's all based on this menu configuration. I forgot to add WD4U's Green-Track-Line.
So the question yet remains. Thick vs Thin Path Lines. And Red/Salmon(ish), or Green. Are we, the user, actually naming the colours and thus the only real difference is Thick vs Thin?

The APRS-IS passcode for APRSIS32 is entered in the Menu (left of the green message). In the Configure part of the Menu. You replace the -1 with the provided passcode.Rob KB8RCO
