What are you using to send information to the CWOP servers? Shut that
off and your location will show where APRSISCE/32 is putting you.

You said

I was able to straighten out my location with CWOP but after a week or so Findu still has me in the wrong place.
It doesn't look like that was an accurate statement.

The first step would be to figure out where you want to be.

The second step would be to send position data for only that location.

Sending position data for two locations makes your station appear to
move back and forth on the map.

Note the locations you are sending.

4200.41N/07045.25W
4204.95N/07041.11W

Which location do you want to be at?

It looks like you might have moved to the big house on Blueberry Hill
Rd. If so, stop sending position reports that say you are still on
Orchard Rd. It looks like whatever you are using to send information
to the CWOP system is located on Orchard Rd. You say you've got CWOP
figured out, so perhaps you downsized. If so, you need to center
APRSISCE/32 on your new location, and hit transmit.

As always, providing enough information to allow others to know what
it is you are attempting to do helps others help you figure out how to
accomplish the task you are wishing to perform.

figured out, so perhaps you downsized. If so, you need to center
APRSISCE/32 on your new location, and hit transmit.

As always, providing enough information to allow others to know what
it is you are attempting to do helps others help you figure out how to
accomplish the task you are wishing to perform.

Understood-  Reset to Simply KISS-  Fixed that issue- Now I do not have to keep on resetting USB KISS in the TNC menu when I exit out of APRSIS-  Thanks!

-What do you think about the port config?  192000 or 9600?

-
Would like to use the OTM as a pass thru so would I still need to edit the XML with my current setup?  Obviously the program would have to be the IGate but I would like the radio to function as as the fill in digi.  Please see KB9UZO-1 (Igate) and KB9UZO-2 (the fill in digi)  .   Does this setup negate having to edit the XML for use as the digi?

-
One more question:  SCREEN- PATHS-APPEARANCE ;  is 'NETWORK /LInks'  open up the WHOLE 'picture' if you were or is it still showing packets that either had first, middle, direct or final paths though the TNC -OR- just area traffic ??

New location

Hi All.
I relocated my station and upon restart I moved my station to the new place and clicked transmit. I am on the map but Findu has me at the old location. I was able to straighten out my location with CWOP but after a week or so Findu still has me in the wrong place. Any ideas? Thanks Steve KB1CHU AR693

If you have (had) the OT3m locked into KISS mode (USB KISS), then you definitely want/need Simply KISS, not just KISS.  The KISS port type is designed for Kenwood APRS radios and will take most KISS TNCs out of KISS mode on exit or disable.

OTM3

bwheelz05@...

Greetings everyone!

Having purchased this Argent tracker 3 about 3 years ago, I have just NOW decided to pull it out and hook it up to my wouxun rig.  This is ran to a small 1/4 2 meter antenna outside.

I live in Eastern El Paso  county in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  I have been using a FTM 350 for mobile APRS use for the better part of 6 years without any issues.

We recently moved to a rural part of the county where our Igate located in the central part of the city will not hit and where there are not many fill in digipeaters.

After speaking with several area hams we agreed there to be a need for a fill in digi and IGate.

So thus I begin my slightly confusing journey of APRS digi setup.....

I am using the APRSIS 32 as the IGate, connected to the Wouxun which I want to act as the fill in digi
( KB9UZO-1 is the main Igate and KB9UZO-2 as the fill in digi)

Been playing with the setup for two days trying to optimize the efficiency and do see plenty of activity but not sure if the Igate portion is actually working correctly.  I believe my fill in digi is doing good as I see it relaying but again, not sure of the Igate side.

The TNC also seems to loose its settings to the program (APRSIS) when I exit out of it.  IF I do not go back into the TNC config program and recheck the USB KISS box, the program will not transmit ( When I hit TX, the TNC side doeskin not actually operate)  I have to go back into the config program for the TNC and re-check the USB KISS box, then open APRSIS  and hit TX again then viola!  The TNC transmits. (Weird, more of a nuisance than a huge issue)

Couple of questions:  I read about needing to edit the XML files for digipeating but then read some comments about it only needing to be done on certain TNCs. Is that correct or do I need to still edit my XML files?

Also, 'qAR' - is that showing the final path route?  I.E "WinMain:2018-07-01T00:07:58.179 RFtoIS:[otm3]IGated WA0NGZ>SX4PWS,WIDE1-1*,WB0JRG-7*,WIDE2*,qAR,KB9UZO-1:`pFjq_?k/`"FJ}_%
WinMain:2018-07-01T00:08:53.055 RFtoIS:[otm3]IGated KC0FIC>S8UTTV,WIDE1-1*,WB0JRG-7*,WIDE2*,qAR,KB9UZO-1:`pIl#R>/'"Is}|!)%O'v|!wG+!|3"

I am still trying hard to decipher the various symbol combinations when examining my packet paths.

Any one else used a Argent OTM 3?  Any advice/help would be GREATLY appreciated!

More likely they're blocking outbound access to port 14580 now.  Panera's free WiFi does that, which drives me crazy when I'm there.

PS.  Port 1480 on 66.159.41.113 works fine right now.  Just tested it with telnet.

I just tried and the upper right corner says APRS-IS Connect and never changes to APRS-IS Connected.

The log file says:

Port(APRS-IS):2018-06-29T13:29:30.292 connect errno 10060
Port(APRS-IS):2018-06-29T13:29:30.292 Connect(noam.aprs2.net[0/7]) or 66.159.41.113:14580 Failed

This means the application is having trouble connecting to the APRS2 servers.

I am at work, and my IT department often blocks ip addresses, but has never blocked these before.

I am guessing that the aprs2.net network is having issues right now.

Passcodes are based on the callsign.  There is no means of resetting them because they are literally created from the callsign characters and the algorithm remains the same.

I can only think of these possibilities:

1. APRS-IS site is having issues or the port # (typically 14580 for filtered) is incorrect

I think you can check status here: http://www.aprs2.net/

2. Your network is not allowing the site:port combination

3. Entered the callsign incorrectly

4. Entered the passcode incorrectly

5. APRS-IS has put a hold of some kind on your login.

If those are correct, check the log

  >Menu >Enables >Logging >Ports(APRS-IS)

If it says "rejected", then there is an issue with your callsign / passcode combination.

If it is says something like:

Port(APRS-IS):2018-06-29T12:41:06.462 connect errno 10060
Port(APRS-IS):2018-06-29T12:41:06.462 Connect(rotate.aprs2.net[0/2]) or 138.122.96.102:14580 Failed

The site is down or you have no route to the site.
