Morning James.
Well I know everybody would like more info. I just don't have any more to give. If I had more I could probably figure it out too. Shut down Putty and tried to reconnect to

Re: RX/TX From radio/tnc
The rest of the world will tell you that it will work.
If putty can access the serial port on the machine, then APRSISCE/32 should be able to as well.
You will need to release the port from putty

Re: RX/TX From radio/tnc
Nope, only one program can have control of the serial port at a time.
Shut down putty and then get APRSISCE/32 to connect to the serial port.

Re: RX/TX From radio/tnc
You are disconnecting (shutting down) PuTTY before trying to connect with APRSIS32?
Does APRSIS32 say {RF Port} OK?
What strings is PuTTY seeing?
Maybe post the section of the RF Port log when you try

Re: RX/TX From radio/tnc
Hi Lynn.
Got up early and used another cable on com6. Have putty connected and redid VHF2 port on APRSIS32. Putty is seeing the strings with no problem. Negative action from the APRSIS32 though.

Re: RX/TX From radio/tnc
Please define "would not connect". If it can't open the COMM port, then you still have something running that has it open. If it's just not receiving, then a few minutes may not be enough

Putty or any other terminal emulator can LISTEN to KISS-formatted traffic. It's still serial data. The packet headers will be non-printable and graphics characters, but the packet payloads

Had Putty working on Port 5 for about 2 min. Shut down putty and started Aprsis. Would not connect. Have bought a ftdi chipset cable from Amazon. Will play once it is in.

I agree that's he's got the wrong driver. But I use an old driver and it work flawlessly. The only thing is sometime windows will do an update and will put the last driver version and your wire won't

Re: RX/TX From radio/tnc
If your TNC is permanently in Kiss mode then Putty probably won’t work. Putty over the serial port is looking for a standard serial to device connection, not kiss. The only thing that will talk to

I have narrowed down to a port issue. Even if I use another cable which then

Strange website redirect on that DNS, but we don't use it for web access, but for port 14580. Here's the site that actually lists the regional rotate DNS names that are available.

Re: RX/TX From radio/tnc
To use simply KISS, you need to place the KPC3 in KISS mode by external means. There are a couple of apps out there and a batch file to place the KPC3 in KISS and start APRSIS32 Then when you exit
