xml file and Vista
Hi I am running the win32 version of aprsisce and after editing the xml file, aprsisce either refuses to run or writes a new xml file so I cannot change either my location or symbol.My OS is Vista

Hooray, it worked. I should have noticed those two locations to be changed before but didn't.
Perhaps putting some text in the XML file such as: Here is where you change your coordinates.
Anyway,

You need to edit the <Latitude> and <Longitude> tags that should be between the <Orientation> and <APRSPort> tags. The other two that you mentioned are only for restoring various map view later.

I still cannot get my laptop to show on the map correctly.
Tried correcting the lattitude and longitude in the XML file as you advised but the laptop symbol keeps staying

when prefetching tiles is there a way to change how many zoom levels is prefetched? i think its 5 but can you cange it to like 15 in the xml file?

Update
The update is working fine. On my windows mobile pda and built in gps. Along with pre fetching the maps I need and using it offline connected via bluetooth. To my Kenwood 700!!! Now just need to

DecimalDegrees = d+(m/60)+(s/3600)
i.e.: 35°19'23" S 149°23'24" E becomes: Lat -34.6769 Long 149.3900

Sorry to butt in butI think your remaining problem is simply that you have the wrong position entered in the xml. It must be entered in Decimal Degrees with -ve for Southern & Western
