Re: I want to operate aprs while listening to hf on another band is that possible?
The idea is to use a mono band 2 meter for dedicated APRS. Signal band 2 meter radio are pretty inexpensive.

The cheap Chinese dual bands tend to have a long turnaround time. That is they take several times longer (up to 7x) to go from tx to being able to rx. The few tests I’ve seen online show a lot less

How would one of the cheap Chinese HT connected to a outside antenna using a PS work? I would not want to tie up a high dollar dual band for APRS

The FT857 will not operate in that manner. Many of the dual band radios will not either. The 857 is single receive/transmit. The typical dual band is dual receive/single transmit.
I tend to use older

Has any of this answered your question?
If not, and to not bore the group with D710 specific chatter, you can email me directly.
Though you might gather from reading: it may perhaps be the blind

Re: I want to operate aprs while listening to hf
Yes I've tried that priority and Split frequency mode and no joy.
My vx8gr I sold had a dedicated aprs frequency that was nice.
Happy Holidays
Drive responsibly😁

The Yaesu FT857D is a single frequency radio. There is no way to use it as you intend. The priority channel jumps between 2 frequencies, but transmit on the VFO (not priority) frequency.

I want to operate aprs while listening to hf on another band is that possible?

I use 857d yaesu with signalink USB and aprsisce32.
Is it possible to listen to other bands while using the 144.39 to xmit/rcv aprs packets?
Anyone experienced in doing this I've tried for

I believe that message in the log is an indicator that the OpenTracker is not actually in KISS mode. In other words APRSIS32 is expecting standard KISS output from the OpenTracker, but it's not
