Re: Blocking DSTAR, DMR, WinLink from the map
Arnold Harding - KQ6DI
[I changed the subject line.] I have the following in my "Add Filter" line of Configure -> General. -u/APBM*/APDG*/APWL*/APJI* This blocks DMR, DStar, Winlink and something I can't remember at the moment (JI) from appearing on the map. It doesn't catch every one, so I could do more fine tuning, but it stops enough that I just get APRS items on the APRS screen. Arnold, KQ6DI

Re: Need some information.

First, when asking for assistance, it is always good to provide the full station ID of the instance you are asking about. I see W7DXJ has 2 KPC-3 digipeaters (-1 and -12) and had 2 instances of APRSIS32 running yesterday (W7DXJ and W7DXJ-3). It's good that the -SSIDs are unique, but which one are you planning to keep operating as the IGate? The symbol that is displayed for a station is configurable. The
default for APRSIS32 is the computer. To change this, click the
computer symbol in Configure / General and select whatever symbol
you want to use. For the black-diamond with an I overlay, select
the Overlay Table, Symbol 38, and Overlay 73 as shown in the
following screen capture. But apparently the black diamond I is deprecated. According to http://www.aprs.org/symbols/symbols-new.txt, here's the symbol recommendations in APRS 1.2:
So pick the appropriate symbol from this list. Now, on to IGating, do you have an RF port configured? If so, what type and what TNC do you have connected, and have you verified that the TNC can communicate with the radio and decode packets outside of APRSIS32? If you have a KPC-3+, it is recommended NOT to run it in KISS mode for extended periods of time. Please read: https://packet-radio.net/kantronics-kpc3-kiss-considered-harmful/ Although further testing shows that if you tie the handshaking signals correctly in the cable, the problem does not manifest. That said, the easiest RF port to configure is a Simply(KISS) type in APRSIS32 and a TNC that is locked into KISS mode. See also: http://aprsisce.wikidot.com/system:page-tags/tag/tnc Once you have answered these questions, please fire up the
APRSIS32 instance and let me know what callsign-SSID it is using.
There are some remote queries I can do to further diagnose the
situation. Lynn (D) - KJ4ERJ - Author of APRSISCE

Hello Lynn - KJ4ERJ, I was successful in downloading and installing the aprsisce / 32 software on Dick's W7DXJ, computer. it is now showing up on the aprs if google map as a computer. The plan was to get Dick's I-gate back up on line. It appears that I am missing something to make that happen. The computer is connected to a KPC 3 TNC and a radio but is not passing any incoming data. Is there a driver or some other program that I need to work with, to make that happen. Dicks computer is a Dell i3 with Windows 7 pro OS 64 bit. As I told you before, this is all new to me, so please help. I know that when an I-gate is connected it normally appears as a black diamond with an "I" inside it. The aprsisce /32 software is showing a good instal, so what more do I need to do, thank you. 73, Tom K7TJH

KJ4DDM-B>APDG02,TCPIP* So, add a -u/APDG* to your Additional Filter and these stations
should no longer be passed to you from the APRS-IS. And in fact,
no DSTAR stations of any version should be passed. Lynn (D) - KJ4ERJ - Author of APRSISCE

Re: Need some information.
Rob Giuliano
For the program crashing, you will need more information. However, my first guess is that you are running it from within the ZIP file, or in a location that limits acccess. For Windows 7 and 10, you want to extract the APRSIS32.exe file into a folder which you can control permissions. I always recommend a folder structure from the base ("C:\") that makes sense to your situation. Personally, mine is structured as: C:\WinApps\Radio\APRS\APRSIS32 But I tend to play around with many APRS things and even more radio things, so 3 layers is helpful. For your situation, C:\WinApps\APRSIS32 might be enough As for the passcode: Yes it needs to match the callsign used at the station. Pleae review: http://aprsisce.wikidot.com/doc:passcode This needs to be done off this list (owners list) with the callsign and verifiable information for the user. This is typically full name as it appears in the FCC database (no nicknames and only use initials if they that way are in the database). The process is pretty quick. Robert Giuliano

Make sure you have created a new directory and unzipped the
download into that directory before double-clicking the .EXE.

Look at the ToCall of the DSTAR stations and use a -u/ filter to knock them out. If you provide a few example DSTAR station IDs, I can be more

It's a problem of his choice of Symbol. He has selected \l (backslash lower case L) which is an Area Object symbol. See the Area Objects section of aprs101.pdf on page 60. I suspect he's including a speed and heading in the packet, but that gets interpreted as the object type and color along with the size of the object. Yep, as he moves around, the "Area Object" his packet is describing will flail rather interestingly. He just needs to change his symbol to not be an Area Object.
There's nothing else wrong with his packets as I can see them. Lynn (D) - KJ4ERJ - Author of APRSISCE

BTW, there are currently 2 other stations on the planet (in the last 2 hours) using the Area Object symbol. But neither of them has a speed/heading following it so no funky objects are drawn since the parse fails. KJ6DZB-4 (Possibly where KJ6DZB-3 got it from, but it claims to
be xastir) EA3CNO-12 (Over in Europe) Lynn (D) - KJ4ERJ - Author of APRSISCE for Windows Mobile and Win32 PS. Pretty cool: an area object with a

Re: Any way to block object or sender?
THIS IS NOT A FOOTPRINT PROBLEM! Sadly, Toolbar>Screen>Labels>Footprint doesn't fix this problem. It appears that the KJ6DZB-3 is sending telemetry in his position beacon, and APRSIS32 seems to display it as a multiline object (see attached screen capture), NOT a footprint. Sometimes it is a circle, several minutes later it turns into a vertical line extending upward, and other times it is 2 vertical lines extending upward and downward (see attached capture). That isn't really the worst part though. His relatively long position beacon is being sent at approximately 30 sec. to 1 minute intervals (appears it may be GPS dither) in the middle of one of the most densely populated APRS areas of the world using a path of WIDE1-1,WIDE2-2. That is seldom necessary in that area. WIDE2 digi's are very common in the area, and are usually located on very tall peaks, so coverage is very good. When in that area, I usually change my path to WIDE2-1 and do as well as can be expected given the system saturation. I have never seen the need for WIDE1. I don't know anything about a SainSonic AP510 tracker, but it appears something is wrong. Just my thoughts. They are free, so take them for what they are worth. Mark, KE6BB
