I have 2 aprsisce32 running in my shack one on 2m one on 6m both Digi and igate

I'm interested in getting the 6m stations heard to be transmitted on 2m is there a way to tell the 2m side to tx everything sent via 6m to the aprs server? Is everything igateed by wc4j-5 gets transmitted by wc4j ?

Or am I just crazy thinking?

You most likely heard him direct rf but he probably had a misconfigure in his station with the wrong coordinates. I've seen a couple guys show up in Texas that were local to me just misconfigured.

Under Configure:DX I see:

Max Ever (1*N1IIC-14 3424.0mi 179°)

Does that mean I had a Direct RF of 3424mi? That license is to Bow, NH - just up the road from me 25mi North. Could be he was far away...maps to the Amazon River in Brazil!!!  I'll email him and see!

Hi Lynn,

Yes, that looks like it worked. I then noticed the app only logs DX records >40km which is a pretty long RF for APRS, it seems.

That makes me wonder if there is a way to parse a log of Direct RF and see distances? I guess I can just View:RF:Direct and see them. How long do they persist on screen?

Or maybe use messaging for verification. That would get around dnsalias issues.

Or leave it alone. The latest version can be grabbed when needed.

Thanks!

Hi Lynn,

I did/do have the latest version.. I had copied it from my home PC and it is the same as the version in the link you sent. I have set the flag. As soon as I click on “About” the dialog opens and I get the warning. I can’t tell you which happens first. Wild speculation might have me thinking it attempts to check versions and since it can’t verify the version, it defaults back to and reports a non-development version dialog. I captured my dialog along with the warning.

As our network gets screwed down tighter and tighter, I am just glad I get what I can get. Evil torrents have been banned a long time ago. Not sure why Raspberry Pi images are evil though. ;)

Lynn doesn't have proxy support in APRSIS32, so if you need to use a proxy at work to get to there, then you won't be able to run updates or do an "About" while on that network.

Sorry. You'd need to contact your network administrator to punch you a hole to get that to work from, er, work.

That's the #1 reason for failure to run after "installation".  I tried at one time to detect that it was running directly out of the .ZIP, but failed.  Maybe I'll revisit that again and put up a dire warning dialog saying that it won't work that way...

Follow the instructions at the following page to switch to Development mode and you should have an CONVerse port type.

http://aprsisce.wikidot.com/doc:development-version

I tried "KWD710(Pkt)" type of port and it kind of worked as you described, but there are a huge amount of <OpenCmd> and <CloseCmd> lines in the config XML file that cause many errors (visible in log) while software tries to set-up something that does not need setup. Can I just delete those lines from the XML file to stop the set-up and pages of non-reply errors?
Yes, you can keep that port type as it has the proper interpretation.  Simply replace all of the <Open/CloseCmd>s with the following No-Op pair.  If you don't have at least one, APRSISCE/32 will put back the defaults.

<OpenCmd>~!!0</OpenCmd>
<CloseCmd>~!!0</CloseCmd>

Note: ~ suppresses the default <CR>, !! says no expected response, and the 0 says no timeout.

After it got through the setup errors it started accepting and putting up the stations on the map w/ all the APRS details though.
Yes, that would be expected.

I'm running APRSIS on an 8" Windows 10 tablet - no Internet, just Bluetooth. I will try to get the GPS feed going from the TH-D74, if not I have a BadElf puck style GPS w/ NEMA output via Bluetooth to try.
I need to play with the radio settings to see if I can get the GPS coming through.  If so, simply checking the GPS/NMEA checkbox on the port and subsequently enabling the GPS should work.  If Enable GPS is grayed out, then APRSISCE/32 doesn't think it has any location source.  Do NOT attempt to configure an NMEA port to talk to the D74.  That won't work.  But if you have a dedicated GPS, you'd configure that through the NMEA port.

Thanks again for swift reply.

>>Just curious...  Is there any advantage to running the D74 in APRS mode

The D74 has almost full APRS capability w/o any software package. In addition to seeing all the information (call, position, speed, distance, telemetry, weather info) it does beacon, SMART beacon and has a 2-way messaging facility. Basically everything except a map (due it the small display) and relay (which I don't need to do). When it's in KISS mode all that goes away.

Lynn,

Your suggestion almost worked! My system does not have CONVerse type ports available - do I have most current version? I only downloaded less than a week ago and it updated itself.
