You right, good job I am not a programmer.

The following is the response. But I am using a TNC-X without a module and I don’t need any of this as my original post of my setup works fine.

But if we are working how to setup different TNC’s for the WIKI then it’s helpful.

As Kurt neglected/forgot he had a module installed, and that can make a difference.

Perhaps Kurt can test with various commands so we can add a generic TNC-X setup to the wiki

I think your s don't match the log below.  The ^C!!1 shows up in the logs as ^C~!!1.  Waiting for a prompt is still subject to the timeout as a maximum.  If the expected response appears, the commands continue immediately.  So, the prompt is actually the same as the timeout in the absence of the prompt, but quicker than the timeout if the prompt appears.

If you want a generic TNC-X setup waiting for a prompt would be bad. A TNC-X without modules will not supply a prompt as such. Sending the below will cover three options. TNC-X and a TNC-X with a X-Digi or a X-Tracker

A TNC-X on it’s own does not need any commands sent.

If it’s any help here is the response from mine without modules. Using

Pretty close.  The first command should probably be ^C~!!0 to suppress the default that would otherwise follow the Control-C, possibly selecting a menu option that results in the Q not being fielded.

On second though, you might actually want ^C~!!1 to give the menu a chance to appear or ^C~!Prompt!1 where Prompt would be the prompt that the ^C-initiated menu brings up.  That way the TNC-X will be ready for the Q because otherwise the Q might be entered too soon to be honored.

Ok.

My quick Google search of the matter reveals this:

Turn on the TNC-X with the X-Digi daughterboard installed and within 20 seconds strike any key in the terminal program to get the X-Digi’s attention.

Now, it also says the last option is Q for Quit. If you select Q before any other options, it will exit the configuration menu.

So, if my calculations are correct, you should have your open cmds set like this for any TNC-X with a daughterboard that has jumper set to the configuration mode:

I don;t have a tnx-x of any kind to check this on, but according to the documentation that I've seen, this *should* work.
