That is correct.  It's kind of like PHG at aprs.fi, you don't need to keep receiving it, but it is remembered.  This is (almost) necessary because there are dual-purpose "stations" out there that transmit repeater information and weather information under a single -SSID.

I am considering aging it out, or at least displaying how old the information IS.  Any comments on how long makes sense?

        For a station that is currently scanning, check out VA3BIT-6.
        Notice the comment of [scanning]. The D710 is the same if I remember
        correctly.
