FFI GROUND SCHOOL Tomorrow....

Hello RVators....
As Bulldog mentioned, ground school will be held following the all-hands meeting at 1500 tomorrow for all pilots without an FFI card.

For Everyone attending the clinic, I've attached a highlighted copy of "Changes and Common Errors" for your review.  These are emphasis items that were briefed at the FFI meeting in Oshkosh....  Beware... If you make these errors at the clinic, you'll be buying the beers!

For Ground School Attendees, I recommend downloading and bringing a PRINTED copy of the latest FFI Formation Guide (attached) for your reference during the clinic.

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow

All pilots without an FFI card are required to attend the ground school at 3:00 PM Friday Oct. 5th.  There have been a lot of changes in our flight procedures and FFI operations with more coming on Jan 1st 2019.  The easiest way to keep up with the changes is to attend the ground school, so I recommend card holders attend the school also.

Unfortunately, our business is too demanding right now. This is something that I've been looking forward to for a long time.  Not only I was looking forward to taking my first steps towards official formation training, but I was mostly looking forward to meeting the great people of this event.  Please excuse my late cancellation.  Hope to be able to attend next time.

I'm sorry to hear your out.  It would be good to see you again.  If you get your breaks fixed come on down.

I had high hopes of getting some photos of you guys during the clinic. But, after talking to my photograher, he is doubtful due to health issues.
This, plus a persistant gremlin in my brakes is causing me to call OUT.

Gentlemen,
It was brought to my attention that I did not have the latest version (V3.1 Jun 1 2018) of the Formation Guide in the files section.
Sorry. The new version is there now.
Be sure to throw away V3 and print V3.1

On page 24 is a summary of the changes. Please review all 23 changes!

See you Friday!

Looking forward to attending and having a great weekend.

Just a heads up to the group that downloaded the docs off of the Pine Bluff group website...it appears there's one doc that's a revision out of date?

The FFI Formation Guide on the groups.io website is version 3.0; posted on the FFI.aero website is a later version (3.1, dated June-2018). Folks might want to check which version they have downloaded and update as appropriate.

Additionally, I need to put in a karma request to the appointed weatherguesser for the event....This is my 3rd scheduled clinic to attend and so far I'm 0 for 2 on actually having one to attend that hasn't been weather canceled...

Obviously, I need someone attending with whom the Force is strong to counter the negative weather energy that seems to be following me around.

Thanks in advance to the clinic organizers!

Gang,
Waldo and I will be presenting the FFI Ground School this year so I wanted to give you a heads up on some need to know items prior to arrival.

First, if you have no intention to fly an Airshow or at Oshkosh or Sun N Fun then you do not need to be carded and we prefer you don’t get a card.  You’re welcomed to fully participate in the clinic regardless.

Your plane: Make sure it’s in top notch shape.   Tire pressure and up the gear legs from there.  For new attendees, ensure your plane is in compliance with clinic requirements.  Throttle, push to talk in back (or side) and stick ( bolted in position!).

Safety Pilots: You may not know you’re going to be one, but if you’re carded, you better be ready to be one.   It’s your responsibility to ensure you are comfortable in your students plane.  If it’s not safe tell someone and don’t fly in it.  Ensure new guys go up just in a two ship until station keeping skills are very good.  That can take the entire clinic and that’s  perfectly fine.

All Pilots: Ensure you know the material on the ffi.aero website.  The Airshow ops Suppt. Is required knowledge for EVERYONE.  You will be questioned on it in your oral for check rides.
The change supplement from OSH this summer clarifies some localisms we need to standardize.  Please read it, if there’s questions on it, we will review it before starting Newbie Ground School.  If you’ve never attended a FFI Ground School, you will on Friday.  Please be ready.

Safety is the goal of the clinic with sharpening skills, teaching new skills and having a good time.   Arrive with ego and background checked at the door and ready to learn and review FFI formation standards.

Thanks,
Greese
