Some of the MidsouthRVator pilots & Bulldog Flight pilots want to go to your clinic.  They can’t figure out how to sign up.  Can you send a link to me (gwloyd@...) and I can forward it to them.

Thanks

Bulldog

Hi All,

Lake Havasu Clinic Hotel Update:

-The Hotel has 7 rooms left at the block rate.

-The block rate code is "RVF", or "AZ Scorpion Formation Flying Team".

-This rate is available until Jan. 20th. (If there is enough demand they will consider adding more rooms),

-You must call the hotel directly, they will not accept online reservations for this block space.

-If you made reservations previously for other dates, you must call and cancel those and then rebook these dates.

-Hotel info: Lake Havasu Hampton Inn: 928-855-4071

-Note: the Block space is for "City view" rooms only- if you want a Lake View it will cost a few extra bucks.

-You can book online through a third party, but they may try to sell you a "Mountain View" room, which is actually a "City View"...

-The Hampton Inn has been remodeled, is doing a great job helping us and providing a Meeting room for our Friday night conference at N/C.

-But, if you want to save a few bucks, you can try the "Super 8 Hotel" which is about a block or so away.

We look forward to another great Lake Havasu Scorpion Clinic!

Cheers,

Carl "Jawbone"

Subject: URGENT Update regarding Lake Havasu Formation CLINIC DATES.

URGENT Update regarding dates for the Lake Havasu AZ Scorpion Formation Clinic 2020:

We are sorry for a logistical error- We must change the dates of the clinic to Feb. 21st-23rd, 2020 (with early arrivals on Thursday the 20th).

We failed to take into account the Copperstate EAA Regional Fly-in to be held  Feb 6-9th this year. It was a big success last year, and they have expanded to 4 days for the event to be held at Buckeye, Az. We have many Arizona Scorpions and West Coast Ravens that were previously committed to this event, and several Reno flyers that are also committed to this weekend.

We have reconfirmed all other known contingencies and therefore must make this date change for the clinic.

We realize that this date will not meet everyone's schedule, and apologize for any inconvenience. We considered as many possibilities that we could, but also realize we cannot meet everyone's prior commitments.

For those of you that have already called the hotel and made reservations- We apologize but please standby-
-Please do not call the hotel to change your reservation or make new reservations at the blocked rate yet-
-the cut-off date will be extended with these new dates.

The Hotel is changing their arrangements but will not be able to make changes or accept new reservations at the block rate until next Tuesday the 24th. The rate and all other specifics will be the same. We will send out another notification at that time and as soon as the hotel has made their changes with the reservations desk.

Also, I have been asked to clarify that this clinic is open to pilots with prior formation experience. You do not have to be an Arizona Scorpion and/or West Coast Raven. But, due to limited logistics, participation will be limited.

Again, we apologize for any inconvenience. We will have the official clinic site up next week and will send out further notices as soon as possible.

We look forward to another great Az Scorpions Formation Clinic.

I said I probably left someone out that needs to be recognized.  Well I forgot to thank Bob & Linda Connor, our Air Boss & Bossett.  They own an RV-7 and Bob has been through a clinic at PBF before.  They came down from North Little Rock Friday to helped with registration and also acted as a buffer between us & the FAA.  Then they came down again on Saturday to provide Air Boss services for us. The FAA decided if CapConn was going to be on duty there was no reason to send anyone else.

Thanks a lot Bob.

We just had one of the best clinics I have been to.  There were 29 pilots and a few guest.  The weather was very good and the food was excellent.  Bad weather across the mid west caused a few cancellations and we missed you guys.  Safely flying formation is our goal and we did a lot of it.

I want to congratulate Dean Marvin (Gumby), Dave Romuald (Torque), Frank Brewer (Bogie), and Scott Sundstrom for passing their Wingman check rides.  Also David Grover deserves recognition for passing his Flight Lead check ride.  FFI Cards are not easy to earn.  Good job guys.

We had 3 Red Scary new formation pilots (Brian Freeman, Rajiv Chalasani, & Jim Ivey) solo in 2 ship flights.  I hope you continue to progress up the FFI ladder to eventually earn a formation card.  You will enjoy the journey.

We need to thank all of the people that made this possible.  Doug Hale (airport manager) and his staff did a great job taking care of our every need and allowed us to have full use of their facilities.

The EAA Chapter volunteers are just wonderful.  Sara Works our chapter president worked continuously all weekend to be sure we were taken care of and she got some good photos & videos that she will share.  Bruce Rogers, Richard Swartz and his lovely wife were the main cooks.  They did a fantastic job.  A week ago we had a hangar clean up day and there were even more volunteers there .  Thanks for the support .

I want to thank Cassandra Shaw, head of the Pine Bluff Transit department for furnishing our bus transportation.  The drivers were courteous and on time.  We appreciate your help.

Greg Reese (Greese) our check pilot and all up flight lead came a long way to help & provide guidance when needed.  Thank you to the Flight Leads & Safety Pilots too.  You came at your own expense and didn't complain about what ever flight assignment you were given.  The FFI family is better off for your effort.

I know I left out someone, so forgive me.

Thanks Again

Bulldog

Great job on the video Randal!

Mark Burns

Randal,
You did a great job capturing the weekend!
Thanks for taking the time to put this video together.

I thought everyone did a great job flying the all-up. Some who were just cleared solo
at this clinic!

For those that hadn’t flown in large formation before I know it can be stressful.
It’s only been about 6 years since I flew my first one. To say I was tense is an understatement!

Each one you fly it will become less stressful and you’ll find yourself able to relax and look around a good bit more. This makes it so much fun!!  I could have flown around with you guys at least another hour on Sunday :-)

Kudos to Greese for the outstanding lead.
His smooth flying and calmness on the radio made it easier for us all!

Thanks Bulldog, Sara , Doug and the EAA chapter for another great clinic!
